The Fire This Time

Deerfield Academy, Deerfield, MA (Jan 11, 2015-Mar 8, 2015)
The Fire This Time, an exhibition curated by Angel Abreu ’92 focusing on the didactic sensibilities of each artist included, within a collective social consciousness. The title of the show derives from James Baldwin’s seminal book The Fire Next Time, written in 1963, 100 years after the Emancipation Proclamation. Now, over 50 years later, the social unrest that is bubbling nationwide makes it clear that we all continue to have work to do.

-Angel Abreu

Work in the exhibition by Danh Vo, Carrie Mae Weems, Ben Volta, Feliz Gonzalez-Torres, Tim Rollins and K.O.S., John Heartfield, Philip Guston, Rick Savinon, Jesse Krimes, Steve Schapiro, Honore Daumier and Angel Abreu
